Has periodontal disease, a blow to the face, or another issue caused the loss of a tooth? Losing a tooth can make simple things like speaking and chewing more difficult. A lost tooth can also allow the remaining teeth from drifting out of place. Because of these and other reasons, if you have lost a tooth, Drs. Backiel and Sharkey may recommend a dental bridge in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

A dental bridge consists of a replacement tooth with a dental crown attached to either side. The dental crowns are attached to the teeth the abutment teeth, which are located on either side of the gap.

When you come to our office, the abutment teeth will be prepared to receive the dental crowns of your bridge. Impressions will then be taken of your teeth so that your dental bridge can be custom made. Once your dental bridge is complete, our dentists will check the fit and color and make any needed adjustments, if any. The final bridge is cemented permanently into place.

To care for your dental bridge, clean it as you would your normal teeth. Brush your teeth twice a day and floss at least once a day. It is also important that you visit our office at least twice a year for routine dental cleanings and exams.

We invite you to contact our office at 267-514-8100 today to learn more and to schedule your next appointment.
