Perfecting Your Flossing Skills

Posted .

Would you like to perfect your flossing skills? Fantastic! Dr. Backiel and Associates can give you some pointers not only on your technique but on the right flossing products to buy:

-The best kind of floss is durable enough to clean between your teeth without shredding. So look for shred resistant floss or products that say “single filament thread” on the packaging.

-If you want to avoid the dispersal of plaque as you floss, cut a strand that is at least 18 inches long and use a different part of the strand for each crevice in between your teeth.

– Look for dental floss that has the ADA’s Seal of Acceptance on the container or choose a floss that has been recommended by your dentist.

– A typical flossing session needs to last between 2 to 3 minutes each time. Clean every single crevice, including that in the very back between your last tooth and gums.

If you would like a little extra training on how to floss effectively, we can offer you a demonstration at our dental office in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Just call 267-514-8100 to set up an appointment with Dr. Deborah Backiel and our team. We look forward to seeing you soon!
